Tour Itinerary
Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Bikaner - Jaipur - Pushkar - Chittodgarh - Udaipur - Mt. Abu
Day 1- Jodhpur
Tour commences on reporting at your hotel at 10 a.m. in Jodhpur.
You are at the edge of the great Thar Desert. Take lunch and proceed to Umaid Bhawan Palace and Museum built of marble and pink sandstone in fifteen years by the president of the British Royal Institute of Architects for Maharaja Umaid Singh. Next is Meherangarh Fort, sprawled across a 125 meter hilltop. It is the most formidable fort in this state of the forts. Short distance away is the Jaswant Thada, a white marble memorial to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Shop for baggy-tight horse riding trousers, jodhpurs, in the evening. Overnight stay at Jodhpur.
Day 2- Jaisalmer
After breakfast, departure with the golden rays of the morning Sun to Jaisalmer, the Golden city. Relax in the evening before the overnight stay at Jaisalmer.
Day 3- Jaisalmer
Full day sightseeing of Jaisalmer. Visit Golden fort, basking in the golden honey colour of the Sun. Built in 116 by the Rajput Ruler, Jaisala, atop the 80 meter high Trikuta hill. The effect is magical, straight out of the Tales of the Arabian Nights. Within the fort walls are seven exquisitely carved Jain Mandir built between the 12th and 15th centuries. Next is a visit to Nathmal-ki-Haveli, built in the late 19th century. The right and left wings of the building were carved by brothers and are very similar, just short of identical. Yellow sandstone elephants guard the building. South of the city walls is the Gadi Sagar, a tank that still supplies water to Jaisalmer. Proceed to Salim Singh-ki-Haveli, built about 300 years ago having arched roof with intricately carved brackets in the form of peacocks. Last of the havelis is Patwon-ki-Haveli, the most elaborate and magnificent of them all standing in a narrow lane. It was originally built by five Jain Brothers. Evening attraction is Sand Dunes at Sam & an exciting camel safari. On the way visit Lodurva Jain Temple. Overnight stay at Jaisalmer.
Day 4- Bikaner
Departure to Bikaner. On way visit to famous Mouse temple “Karni Mata” Mandir where thousands of holy rats are worshiped. Overnight stay at Bikaner.
Day 5 - Bikaner
Proceed to Junagarh fort, the best fort of Rajasthan, built during 1587 to 1597 during the Raja Rai Singh rule. Overnight stay at Bikaner.
Day 6 - Jaipur
In the morning, leave for Jaipur, better known as the Pink City of India. Believe your eyes if they only see Pink here. Arrive at the Pink city in the backdrop of golden sunset. Overnight stay at Jaipur.
Day 7 - Jaipur
Full day sightseeing in Jaipur. Visit the Amber fort, Maharaja Man Singh, the Rajput commander of Akbar's army began its construction in 1592 and was later extended by the Jai Singhs. A superb example of Rajput architecture. Next is Kanak garden followed by Sawai Mansingh II Museum, where royal costumes and shawls including Kashmiri Pashmina shawls are on display. Get ready to be swept off your feet in the Palace of the Winds or Hawa Mahal, built in 1799. It was originally built for ladies of the royal household to watch the everyday life and processions of the city. Last of the places in this Pink city is Jantar Mantar, an observatory begun by in 1728 by Jai Singh whose passion for astronomy overshadows his achievements on the battlefield. Overnight stay at Jaipur.
Day 8- Ajmer / Pushkar
Departure to Pushkar, at the edge of the desert and separated from Ajmer by Nag Pahar, the Snake mountain. En route visit Ajmer's famous Dargah, the tomb of Sufi Saint Khwaja Muin-ud-din Chishti. In Pushkar, best known for its camel fair, visit the world famous Bramha Mandir, one of the few temples in the world dedicated to this deity. Marked by a red spire and a hans or goose atop the entrance gate. Evening free for shopping at Pushkar or a stroll around the scenic Pushkar Lake. Overnight stay at Pushkar / Ajmer.
Day 9 - Chittorgarh / Udaipur
Morning Departure to Chittorgarh, steeped in History and Rajput chivalry. The Chittorgarh fort was thrice attacked by a stronger enemy and on each occasion it ended in Jauhar (ritual mass suicide) with the men donning the saffron robes of martyrdom and riding out of the fort to certain death while the women and children immolated themselves on a huge funeral pyre. Proceed southwards to Padmini's Palace, built besides a large pool with a pavilion in its centre. Legend tells us that as Padmini sat in the pavilion, Ala-ud-din was permitted to see her reflection in a mirror in the palace. Next is a visit to Meera Mandir, Kirti Stambha, Kali Mandir, and Jain Mandir before proceeding to Udaipur. Stay at Udaipur.
Day 10 - Udaipur
Full day sightseeing of this romantic city. Begin the day with a visit to the imposing City Palace, towering over the lake is the largest palace complex in the State. Next is Maharana Moti Nagri followed by Saheliyon-ki-Bari, or Garden of the Maids of Honour. End the day at Haldi Ghati, the famous battleground where Maharana Pratap took on Abdali's army. Overnight stay at Udaipur.
Day 11 - Mt. Abu
Early morning depart to Mt. Abu, Rajasthan’s only hill station. After lunch proceed to sightseeing of the world famous Dilwara Temples that offer the finest example of Jain architecture with marble carvings in its full glory. Next is a visit to Om Shanti Bhavan, Abuda Mata, Nakki Lake which is said to have been scooped out by a god using only his nails; hence the name, nakki or nakh. Spend the evening at the Sunset point. Enjoy shopping local specialities before going to bed. Overnight stay at Mt. Abu.
Day 12- Mt. Abu
Shop at sunrise. Check out at 10.00 a.m. The tour ends at the railway station.
